Nevada Bureau of Mines & Geology

As the State Geological Survey, theĀ Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) maintains and updates maps and datasets relevant to mineral and energy resources in the state of Nevada.

Hard copy reports and maps can be purchased online here or by visiting the Great Basin Science Sample and Records Library. Alternatively, many of our data products can also be accessed online and our spatial datasets are gradually being migrated to an ARCGIS OpenData page.

Additionally, datasets for the broader Great Basin region are being incorporated into the GBCGE’s Subsurface Database, which is a relational database developed in PostgreSQL and hosted by NBMG. The primary purpose of the database is to warehouse a master compilation of GBCGE-stewarded point-feature data and related attributes for the Great Basin region and National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) partnered states. The database provides a seamless backend service for our data products and web portals. Furthermore, it serves as a single point of entry for incorporating new data and provides users with data that are highly structured, machine-readable, dynamic and open-access.

The GBCGE Subsurface Database Explorer is an interactive web mapping application that allows users to browse, filter and download data from GBCGE Subsurface Database.

The application can be viewed in-browser at: https://gbcge.org/subsurface/
