Nevada Today story: Phase 3 of the Nevada Play Fairway project discovers two new geothermal systems
GBCGE-NBMG researcher Dr. Jim Faulds was featured in UNR’s Nevada Today, discussing the results of phase III of the Nevada Geothermal Play Fairway Project, which culminated in the discovery of two new hidden geothermal systems in Nevada. A new system was discovered in south-eastern Gabbs Valley, and another system was discovered in Granite Springs Valley. Both systems were discovered via shallow drilling to identify shallow thermal anomalies: GeoProbe and thermal gradient drilling were conducted and the maximum measured temperature was 124 degrees Celsius at 500 ft depth at Gabbs Valley.
