Nevada Today story: $10 million in new funding to refine geothermal exploration workflows in Nevada

GBCGE researcher Dr. Bridget Ayling was featured in UNR’s Nevada Today, introducing an ambitious new research project that has been funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Geothermal Technologies Office. Titled ‘INGENIOUS’ (INnovative Geothermal Exploration through Novel Investigations Of Undiscovered Systems), the project aims to accelerate the reduction of risk for blind (hidden) geothermal systems in the Great Basin region. Led by Dr. Ayling and colleagues at UNR, the project involves 12 external partner organizations and has a budget of $10 million over the next 4.5 years. Almost half of this will go towards supporting exploration drilling and new data collection at several prioritized sites in the region.
