Description

The GBCGE Subsurface Database Explorer is an interactive web mapping application that provides public access to the GBCGE Subsurface Database, and its collection of datasets pertinent to geothermal exploration, oil and gas exploration, critical mineral exploration, and other subsurface characterization for the Great Basin Region, western US.

The GBCGE Subsurface Database is a relational database developed on PostgreSQL, hosted by the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The primary purpose of the database is to warehouse a master compilation of GBCGE-stewarded point-feature data and related attributes for the Great Basin region and National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) partnered states. The database provide a ubiquitous backend service for our data products and web portals. It also serves as a single point of entry for incorporating new data, and provides users with data products that are highly-structured, machine-readable, and open-access.
